Ticketing system and communication by staff was on point. It seems asif they called 5 to 8 people per queue in sections to enter the building. The treatment of people standing outside for hours in sun or rain is very poor. When I went to fetch my passport, … I weighted for 2 hours in the queue, … only to be told that their system is down. Queues and a wait are inevitable but once inside the department is organised and efficient. My smart card was ready in 2 weeks, very happy with Edenvale home affairs.
Overall a much better experience than I anticipated. I have never experienced such incompetent service. The staff is unfriendly and do not have any interest in doing their job. They occupy a space, waiting for the day to pass.

Carry original documents for whatever you are applying for including address proof such as rental agreement, ID etc. The queue is long outside & I was there and inside the building for 5 hours in total. Home affairs edenvale this is the 3rd time I am experiencing this with the branch. I had made a branch booking for today but I guess that does not work. Off line since yesterday, government service or systems are poor. They can't even estimate the duration of network repairs.
We waited for about 45min with 6 applicants in front of us, one applicant took longer than the rest; issues with the form. When it was our turn, we were served in approximately 10min. Was there for a 1st ID Application. The Home Affairs lady at the reception was very welcoming and patient with the clients, one can tell that she enjoys her work. I unfortunately couldn't get her name. Why not get some signs so that customers know where to queue instead of them walking around in a daze of confusion.

More younger generation who are had working and have proper training to deal with customers needs.avoid going to the brunch by all costs it save yiu time. Home Affairs is already so inefficient, but answering the phone is something they are completely incompetent at. The website is slow though and the property could be made more accommodating to the people who use its services with very little effort in my opinion.

Only later my brother's application they needed our mother copy of ID and Judy was quick to help and Mpho. Judy always keep me on the loop on the progress. She is passionate and very helpful and I believe she is one of the best employees that Nedbank home affairs in Rivonia ever had. Judy and team thank you for a great service and keep it up. For people who need help quickly, just book at Roodeporte or Edenvale and you will get a spot the next day. What a pleasant experience, applied for an ID and Passport after mine were stolen, almost no paperwork or being asked to go from one place to the next.
Be prepared to wait inordinate amounts of time for the simplest of things. Rain or shine, you'll get the same level of service.bad service. Went to edenvale offices where awesome and fast on Thursday the 21nd to load biometrics. Got message today passport ready for collection very impressive. Smoother than expected-just have your paperwork in order. The pure schlep of it all-Whats the point in marking appointments if they are offline or cameras and systems don’t work. She kept us updated on why one of the applicants took longer than expected.
The best experience I've ever had at a department of home affairs. The staff was really helpful and friendly. The branch manager Mr. Mokhatjane goes out of his way to assist and makes sure everyone is helped or how and if he can make their experience better. DHA apparently do not allow new applications for abridged certificates under level 3 lockdown! I am currently on attempt 10 to call their offices with not one call being answered so far. Long queues and covid precautions mean that you have to spend long hours standing outside in the sun.
This is a system that doesn't work! The person in front of me was also in the wrong queue. All of the people standing in the queues are not booking online and making their lives difficult unnecessarily.

To date I have been waiting 1.5 years for an unabridged Death Certificate. I have been back to HF Edenvale 4 times and still told they either don't know where it is or I must just wait. Super friendly and helpful staff as well as speedy and efficient service. Total time spent inside was maxinum 30min. Waiting period outside takes long and it's bit frustrating but inside help very fast and kind and professional staff assisting. Got there at 7am to apply for my passport left at 1pm.
